Welcome to NearbyLens! I’m Franklin, the creator and developer behind this project and a few other ongoing experiments in curiosity. NearbyLens came about after decades of travel and a lot of "what *is* that?" moments on road trips. I kept thinking, “Wouldn’t it be cool if there was a way to share stories and insights about what we’re all seeing out there?” So, NearbyLens was born to help people discover places and interesting landmarks near them — using nothing more than their GPS coordinates or a quick city search. The goal is simple: make local exploration easy, intuitive, and just plain fun.
Now, a quick note: I’m committed to following the rules of all the platforms and data sources we rely on — I’m not looking to get sued! No Google Places data was used in NearbyLens (as tempting as it was), and all content here respects everyone’s terms of use. So rest assured, everything here is legit and by the book. Now go explore!
The mission behind NearbyLens is to create a user-friendly space for people to view detailed, real-time information about what’s around them. With each city’s data stored in localized databases, users can access relevant content without compromising performance. This project is continuously expanding, and the idea is to enhance the local experience through organized, insightful data and a user-centric design.

I am a real person, Franklin, writing this to you. I like to treat others the same way I like to be treated. I hate how the internet tracks people, and uses their information to sell them stuff and/or to manipulate them. I don't do that. I might start putting ads on here someday to help fund the project, but that will be the extent of that sort of thing. There are costs associated with making this website function, so that needs to be addressed somehow, and there are college loans to pay off.....Those are my thoughts. Someday I will have a comment system so you can share your thoughts as well. Be safe and have fun! - Franklin.
This website is under development. Once we get to the okay, it's pretty good stage, we will open up comments and have a contact us page.
