Project Milestones
Here’s a timeline of key milestones in the development of NearbyLens, from the initial concept to ongoing updates.
- ~November 2, 2025: City Information Loaded for all 50 States in English
 After lots and lots of typing, most of the cities have been populated with data.
- October 25, 2024: Data Starts To Flow
 I discovered that open source location data points are very hard to find, but I found some, and the intitial data started to flow with 51 records entered the first day.
- October 23, 2024: Website Foundation Set Up
 Laid down the foundation for NearbyLens, including the primary site structure and essential scripts. I began working on GPS location functionality. I got all the hard stuff figured out. Thanks ChatGPT!
- October 18, 2024: NearbyLens.com Was born.
 With $15 and a simple "Hello World", the website sprung to life.
- July 27, 1978: Concept for NearbyLens Born
 Conceived the idea of NearbyLens as a user-friendly platform for discovering local points of interest. Unfortunately the internet did not exist at the time. C'mon Al Gore, hurry up!
